The Liberation Academy is where leadership continues.
Every girl who enters this space has already completed our Leadership Academy. She arrives with a foundation of confidence, self-awareness, and leadership skills. She knows her voice matters. She understands the challenges Black and Brown girls face. And she is ready to go deeper.
This year, our Liberation Academy participants are stepping into a new season of growth. Together, they are exploring what it means to lead with integrity, communicate with intention, and advocate for themselves and others. Through thoughtful conversations and reflection, participants are deepening their leadership skills, strengthening their sense of self, and growing their responsibility to the communities around them.
Through our Core 2.0 workshops, girls are deepening their self-awareness, confidence, and personal growth. Through our Advanced Character Counts 2.0 workshops, they are strengthening the values, habits, and decision-making skills that shape effective leaders. Together, these experiences reinforce an important lesson: leadership isn't just about what you accomplish—it's about who you are becoming and how you show up for others along the way.
One of the most exciting parts of this year has been helping shape Let Black Girls Live, a new youth-led initiative designed to spark community conversations about the experiences of Black girls. Participants have spent the past several months researching, planning, discussing, and preparing for conversations that will take place this July. In doing so, they are stepping beyond personal leadership development and into community leadership, ensuring that the voices, experiences, and brilliance of Black girls remain at the center of the conversation.
What makes the Liberation Academy unique is that it is not focused on helping girls find their voice. They have already found it.
This space is about helping them strengthen it, trust it, and use it on behalf of others.
The redesigned Liberation Academy curriculum reflects our commitment to growing alongside the young women we serve, creating opportunities for deeper reflection, stronger leadership development, and meaningful engagement with issues impacting Black and Brown girls.
As we move through the year, we continue to witness young women growing into thoughtful advocates, confident leaders, and powerful examples of what happens when Black and Brown girls are given the space to learn, lead, and thrive.
